 Making Ideas into Reality

SAACHACK(Security/smart city Augmentation Reality Artificial Intelligence Cloud Hackathon) 27th & 28th JULY 2018

What is this?

24 Hrs Hackathon- It refers to technological invention dash that occur over a period of 24 hours consecutively to program software and hardware for solving a real world design challenge.

Who Should attend?

Students who are passionate about programming

When  is this?

July 27th and 28th  2018.

Where is this?

Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, Chennai.

Any  Platforms preferred?

The software can be a Mobile App, a Web Application or a Cloud Application! However students can incorporate any Open Source APIs, Frameworks and Platforms.

What are all the rules to the Competition?

1. Technical students from various parts of the country.
2. The team can consist of 4 members at max(not less than 2).
3. All the team members should be studying in the same institution.
4. Team members may be from different academic levels.
5. Mentor should present along with the team members.
6. Teams should be made up exclusively of students with ID cards.
7. The admission of teams to the competition is on a first-come, first-served basis and is to be limited to not more than 50 teams
8. All team members should be present at the event. Leaving the venue for some time to hack elsewhere is fine.
9. The partial problems will be given one month prior to the event date and the teams can choose any one from the given track. The Teams should submit the partial solution documents within fifteen days. From this top 50 teams will be scrutinized /The set of Problems will be given to the teams before the time of the event starts, any one of the problems can be identified by the teams from any tracks given and complete  the same within 24 Hours. Once a problem is chosen it cannot be changed.
10. At the time of Hackathon the remaining problem will be given. And the Hackathon teams should complete the task within 24 hours. All the remaining work on a project should be done at the time of the hackathon.
11. Teams can use an idea they had before the event.
12. Teams can use libraries, frameworks, or open-source code in their projects. Working on a project before the event and open-sourcing it for the sole purpose of using the code during the event is against the spirit of the rules and is not allowed.
13. Adding new features to existing projects is allowed. Judges will only consider new functionality introduced or new features added during the Hackathon in determining the winners.
14. Teams must stop hacking once the time is up. However, teams are allowed to debug and make small fixes to their programs after time is up. Making large changes or adding new features is not allowed.
15. Projects that violate the Code of Conduct are not allowed.
16. Teams can be disqualified from the competition at the organizers' discretion. Reasons might include but are not limited to breaking the Competition Rules, breaking the Code of Conduct, or other unsporting behavior.

What is Judging Criteria?

1. TECHNOLOGY: How technically impressive was the hack? Was the technical problem the team tackled difficult? Did it use a particularly clever technique or did it use many different components? Did the technology involved make you go "Wow"?

2. DESIGN: Did the team put thought into the user experience? How well designed is the interface? For a website, this might be about how beautiful the CSS or graphics are. For a hardware project, it might be more about how good the human-computer interaction is?

3. COMPLETION: Did the team stretch themselves? Did they try to learn something new? What kind of projects have they worked on before? If a team which always does virtual reality projects decides to switch up and try doing a mobile app instead, that exploration should be rewarded.

4. LEARNING: Does the hack work? Did the team achieve everything they wanted?

Overview:    

 The major objective of the SAACHACK includes exploring new technologies, driving business innovation, bringing about civic involvement, fostering awareness, and encouraging ownership for a social cause. The Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology will provide a platform to showcase the coding and implementation skills and provided excellent way to motivate student community and making learning interesting. SAACHACK helps in exploring new ideas and finding new talents.  The major benefit for RIT is to enrich practical ability of the student of various levels.

RULES
Submission Rules:

Please note submission of the following is compulsory to qualify for final prizes.
A fully working demo link Presentation which explains - Idea & its Impact Link to Repository URL. This is a team participation hackathon.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Eligibility for student team members:

Technical students from AICTE/ UGC/ IIT/ NIT/other govt. approved institutions.
Team Size: not less than 2 and not more than 4
All Team members must be currently studying in same institution.
Team members may be from different academic levels.
Team members could be from any of the technology streams/MCA/streams like Computer Science or equivalent may participate.
Once teams have registered, changes in team members will not be encouraged.
While selecting among similar ideas, preference will be given to the team with maximum girl members.

Do I need to pay any money to register for the Hackathon?

 Yes. You have to pay Rs. 500(Rupees Five Hundred only) per head. to register yourself for this SAACHACK.
Do we need to have the entire idea fully working?
 The entire idea need not be fully implemented however, the submission should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges.

What is a selection criteria?

Evaluation criteria will consist of novelty of the thought, complexity, clearness and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression. Preferences will be given to entries from Northeast while selecting between two similar ideas.
